With over 30 years of professional experience, Luis Alfredo Barragán Arango has successfully represented both national and international companies in highly complex litigation and arbitration cases. His expertise includes representation in corporate insolvency processes, both domestically and cross-border.
Luis Alfredo focuses on litigation and arbitration in areas such as trade, corporate law, telecommunications, oil and gas, as well as insolvency and asset recovery. He has acted as counsel in numerous national and international arbitrations under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and UNCITRAL and has been appointed as an arbitrator in various proceedings. Additionally, he has served as an expert witness in Colombian law before US courts.
Luis Alfredo is included in the official arbitrator lists of the Chambers of Commerce of Bogotá, Cali, Cartagena, and Medellín. He is also the only Colombian member of FraudNet-Commercial Crime Services (CCI) and has been a member of INSOL International. He has worked as an advisor for the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and USAID on legislative proposals related to guarantees and enforcement in reorganization processes.
Luis Alfredo has participated in drafting commissions for the amendment of the Colombian Code of Civil Procedure (now the General Code of Procedure) and has been recognized as a Thought Leader and one of the top lawyers in his specialty by publications such as Who's Who Legal, Chambers & Partners, Latin Lawyer, Best Lawyers, Euromoney, The Legal 500 Latin America, and LACCA.
